New Discs

I had a 4 wheel alignment done on the Boxster a few weeks back and the chap who carried out the work pointed out the state of the front discs. From the outside they looked fine, however the back face of the discs were badly scored and rusty. After closer inspection it was clear that they needed changing:

I did some searching on the web to find some replacement prices and decided to go with OEM parts from Jasmine Porschalink . New discs and pads + replacement caliper bolts came to £250.

The discs are serious bits of engineering and weight a hell of a lot, so much so that £250 felt like a bargain. Fitting was easy enough and job was done in under two hours.

Just need to let them bed in a bit now :)

Note to self fitted at 32,680 miles.

Brakes Work!

Seems like a while since I posted some progress on here. So I’m pleased to be able to post that I now have working brakes. I spend a few hours yesterday making up brackets to mount on the chassis and hold the flexible brake lines.

Today I overhauled and fitted the master cylinder. After a few comedy moments running round with a spanner fixing leaks, I have a working foot brake!

I’ve fitted one corner, only to find it’s on upside down - BUT hey it was fun…

Now, the question is do I get the front wishbones chromed?
